Your Role

We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. You will assist directly the CFO in managing the organization’s financial operations and play a key role in ensuring close monitoring, financial transparency and supporting operational and strategic objectives. The role will focus on financial control of projects, working closely with project managers to bring more focus to financial results and foster a culture of financial discipline. This position is designed to prepare you to transition into the CFO role in the coming years, offering a clear path for growth within the organization.

Job description

This open position, as part of a team of experienced consultants, include the following responsibilities : 

  • Support Strategic Planning: Support annual budgeting processes, provide forecasts, and monitor performance against budgets. Provide actionable insights to optimize decision-making. 
  • Develop Internal Controls: Implement and refine internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure data accuracy. 
  • Financial control of projects: Work closely with business leaders and project managers to oversee the financial control of projects, drive focus on financial results, educate, and promote a culture of financial discipline.
  • Support Financial Reporting: Provide necessary data to prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budget variance analysis
  • Optimize Costs: Monitor and analyse costs, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal standards. Manage external audits and ensure proper documentation. 
  • Oversee Cash Flow: Support robust cash flow management to meet operational needs and strategic investments. 
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with the leadership team, external partners, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support informed decision-making.
  • Drive Efficiency: Enhance financial processes, systems, and tools to improve organizational efficiency.



Your profile 

Potential candidates should demonstrate the following experience and skills

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA or similar are a strong asset.
  • You bring at least 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or controlling, ideally within a mission-driven or consulting organization.
  • You have a strong understanding of Belgian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • You are proficient in Odoo, MS Excel, and data analytics tools. These skills will be key to your success in the role.
  • You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial data and educate non-financial stakeholders in a clear and actionable way. 
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch, and English. These language skills are essential to communicate and influence effectively within our bilingual team and with external stakeholders.
  • You are passionate about sustainability and aligned with CLIMACT’s mission and values.
